
Air Force Downed By Fresno State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (10-16, 3-12 MW) fell to Fresno State (17-10, 7-7 MW), 65-40, in Mountain West action Tuesday night at Clune Arena. Freshman Jake Heidbreder led the Falcons with 14 points.
Facing the fourth-ranked defense in the nation, the Falcons were held to a season-low for points. Forward Orlando Robinson scored 26 points to lead the Bulldogs. In addition to going 8 of 12 from the field, Robinson got to the free thow line often, making 10 of 11 free throws. Guard Isaiah Hill added 15 points.
Points were scarce in the first half, as the two teams scored a combined 38 points, with Fresno State taking a 23-15 lead. The Falcons shot 29 percent from the field in the opening half and hit just one of 11 three point attempts.
Robinson was dominant inside, scoring 14 of Fresno State's points in the opening half. The field goals were nearly even at the half at 8-7 in favor of the Bulldogs, but Fresno State was 6 of 6 six from the line, while the Falcons did not attempt a first-half free throw.
The three-point shooting improved in the second half, as the Falcons made six threes. But the Bulldogs still held the Falcons below 40 percent shooting in the second half and maintained a double-digit lead throughout.
Heidbreder reached double-figures for the fourth straight game for the Falcons, playing a game-high 38 minutes. Junior guard Jake Murphy added eight points off the bench. Murphy hit a pair of three's and pulled down three rebounds.
Freshman guard Jeffrey Mills added five assists and freshman center Lucas Moerman had three blocked shots. Junior guard Camden Vander Zwaag and junior forward Nikc Jackson also chipped in with five points each.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Feb. 26 at New Mexico. The game tips at 2 pm MT and will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network and STADIUM.
