Falcons Conclude WAC Swim and Dive Championships With Four Champions, Second Place Team Finish

HOUSTON – Air Force concluded a stellar week at the 2022 Western Athletic Conference swim and dive championships with six title finishes, three WAC records, seven Academy records and a second-place team finish (630.50). UNLV won the league championship with 845.50 points.
In the final day of conference championship action, Air Force's 200 fly swimmers stole the show as Adam Grimm set an Academy record in his swim to first place (1:44.28). Teammates Andrew Limpert raced to second (1:44.94), Grant Afman placed fourth (1:47.39), Andrew Armbruster finished fifth (1:47.44) and Logan Davis clocked seventh (1:49.15)—dominating the WAC competitors in the event. Grimm and Limpert clocked Division I B-cuts in the effort.
Air Force junior Wen Zhang continued to impress as he raced to a champion finish in the 100 freestyle, clocking a 42.97 for his third title finish of the championship, setting a WAC and USAFA record. Zhang concluded the weekend with three WAC records and three Academy records to his name. Senior teammate Corey Shepard (4th, 43.29) clocked a Division I B-cut time in the event.
The Falcons' Zhang and Grimm we're among the top-three of individual point scorers—Zhang tied UNLV's Panagiotis Bolanos for first with 60, and Grimm finished third with 57.
Air Force's Thomas Nagle who earned a Division I B-cut time in the 100 breast stroke, tied for fifth in the 200 breast stroke with a 1:58.92.
