Leo Camacho Leads Falcons at WAC Main Event

Camacho was named the Main Event's Outstanding Boxer on Friday, while Andrew Lu went 2-0.
SEATTLE, Wash. – Air Force sophomore Leo Camacho and freshman Andrew Lu both captured 125-pound victories on Friday, Feb. 4, during the opening night of action at the prestigious WAC Main Event in Seattle. Following his victory, Camacho was named the Outstanding Boxer for the event's first night of action.
Camacho claimed his 125-pound victory after stopping Ian Chiu of USC in the second round, while Lu followed that up with a 2-1 decision over California's Ryan Everly.
Seniors Maddie Lloyd and Maksat Omar also competed at the WAC Main Event on Friday, but suffered losses in their respective bouts. Lloyd opened the Falcons' night with a 142-pound setback to Washington's Simona Winkler, while Omar dropped his 138-pound contest to Cincinnati's John Laughlin.

Lu returned to the ring at the Washington Athletic Club on Saturday, Feb. 5, for Air Force's second bout of the weekend with Chiu. Like Camacho on Friday, Lu forced the referee to stop the 125-pound contest with Chiu before the final bell, as the freshman improved to 2-0 on the weekend.
Senior Michael Scully joined Lu on Saturday night's card, but suffered an early loss in his 156-pound contest with Michael Pitts of UC Davis.
