Missed chances cost Falcons in 4-1 loss

RENO, Nev.- The Falcons stranded nine runners on Sunday while producing just two extra-base hits, as Air Force was unable to salvage the series finale in today's 4-1 loss.
Designated hitter Jake Greiving provided both of Air Force's extra-base hits, as the sophomore was 2-4 with a solo home run and a double. Greiving's home run in the 4th led to the Falcons only run, and was the lone Air Force hitter with multiple hits.
With each managing a base-hit, Sam Kulasingam extended his on-base streak to 21 games, while Gabriel Garcia now has a hit in 16-consecutive games.
Making his eighth start of the spring, southpaw Seungmin Shim shook off a four-run 1st inning to toss five-consecutive scoreless innings for Air Force. The southpaw recorded a career-high six strikeouts over his six innings, allowing just five hits with two walks.
Zach Argo relieved Shim and was perfect in his two innings while striking out three.
Air Force created multiple scoring opportunities, though was unable to cash in. The Falcons left runners stranded in scoring position in each of the first four innings, twice grounding into inning-ending double-plays.
The Wolfpack faced the minimum in the 5th, 6th, and 8th, though the Falcons did threaten in their final at-bat.
Greiving led off the inning with a double, and was pushed over to third two batters later when Trayden Tamiya singled through the right side to put runners on the corners with one out. With the tying run at the plate, Chase Spencer and Blake Covin struck out in succession to end the ballgame.
Next, Air Force will take on its toughest test to date of the 2022 season, traveling to Austin to play #7 Texas for a two-game series. Game One is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19, with first-pitch slated for 5:30 pm MT.
