USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Rising Air Force junior Joi Harvey recently wrapped up training with the 2022 U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team. Harvey was the first Air Force player to be selected to the WCNT and just the second to be invited to a USA Volleyball summer program.
"It was a great experience," Harvey said at the conclusion of the training program, which took place on June 19-25 in Anaheim. "It was fun to play at such a high level. I learned a lot about myself, as a player and teammate, and will bring what I learned back (to the Academy)."
The Women's Collegiate National Team featured 38 of the country's top collegiate women's volleyball players and a seven-member coaching staff that included three Olympic medalists and two others with Olympic coaching experience. The WCNT training was held at the National Team Training Center in Anaheim, California.
In addition to working alongside the best collegiate players in the country, the team was able to watch the Women's National Team (WNT) training sessions, study the USA systems, meet with Tokyo 2020 Olympians and be observed by the WNT staff.
"Being on the Collegiate National Team really put a lot of things into perspective, as far as my career in volleyball," Harvey concluded. "It makes me want to go even harder, because I know where I can be if I work hard and have a growth mindset."
