Falcons Wrap Up Season-Opening Throwdown

Jordan Dutcher and Shelby Paul were named Boxers of the Week for their respective teams.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force boxing team officially kicked off the 2022 campaign last night (Sept. 22), as 32 athletes stepped into the ring during the first Thursday Night Throwdown of the season. Jordan Dutcher and Shelby Paul were honored as the Boxers of the Week for their respective teams.
Dutcher claimed a victory in the first of two 154-pound bouts, as he defeated Nile Owens in a decision. Jake Edwards picked up the other 154-pound victory after defeating Luke Phillips. Leo Camacho defeated Andrew Lu in the men's lightest weight division (129 pounds), while Colton O'Dell earned a victory over Conner Head in the night's heaviest (193 pounds). Nico Ramette and Andres Sullivan captured 164-pound wins in the two competitions in that weight class, defeating Neo Takazawa and Viet Zaengle, respectively. Sean Andres earned a 136-pound win over Duong Tran, while Dylan West won his 144-pound bout with Brandon Son and Canaan Ray rounded out the men's victors with a 175-pound win over Mandaw Seck.
Paul decisioned Kenzie Bonang in the 16-pound weight division en route to the Boxer of the Week, while Katie Bush and Billie Botes bookended the women's competition with victories at 155 pounds (over Morgan Roberts) and 147 pounds (over Cassidy Rosa), respectively. Charlotte McPhee-Gillum defeated Susan Yeung in a 114-pound matchup, while Madigan Starr won her 124-pound debut over Abi Cook and Carmyn Grubbs claimed a 127-pound win over Emma Teo. Lexi Lee rounded out the women's winners with a 152-pound victory over Peyton Glenn.
The Falcons return to action next Friday (Sept. 30), when they host Navy in the Cadet Gym Boxing Room.
