Air Force Trio Honored by Mountain West

The Falcons claimed three of the four weekly MW awards for the second-straight week.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force claimed three weekly awards from the Mountain West this afternoon (Sept. 27), marking the second time in as many weeks that the Falcons have captured more than half of the league's weekly honors. Following their performances at the Cowboy Jamboree in Oklahoma last weekend, senior Sam Gilman and sophomore Lindsey Peters claimed the MW Runner of the Week honors for the men and women, respectively, while India Jones was honored as the MW Women's Freshman of the Week.
Registering an 8K time of 23:52.5, Gilman finished 28th in a stacked 250-runner field that included more than half of the teams ranked in the Top 30 of the latest USTFCCCA national standings. The Falcons' top finisher, Gilman led his teammates to a ninth-place finish in the 27-team meet.
In the women's 6K race, Peters used a time of 21:01.6 to finish 30th out of 223 runners in an event that featured 12 nationally-ranked teams. Jones, competing in the first travel meet of her young career, finished in 22:06.8 to place within the top half of the field in her 6K debut. Together, the pair helped Air Force to a 14th-place finish in the overall team standings.
