Air Force finishes second to start Invitational

USAFA, Colo.- Following the first day of competition at the Air Force Invitational, the Falcons finished second behind BYU. Air Force managed a solid 578 team points behind the Cougars' 659 points.

Wen Zhang was his usual self, as the senior's time of 4:36.62 bested the field in the 500 Free. Zhang was also the winner of the 100 Free (44.32) and finished second in the 50 Free (20.36).

Zhang, as well as Matthew Lattin, John Plutt and Stephen Zanowic raced to a tight first-place finish in the 200 Free Relay, as the group managed a winning time of 1:22.36.

Alex Kenyon maintained his solid form, as the sophomore finished third in the 3-meter dive. Joseph Moore placed fourth in 200 IM, touching out at 1:55.97. Anthony Sebastian swam to a time of 2:10.62 in the 200 Breaststroke, also good for fourth place.

Another fourth-place finisher, James Winterfield timed out at 1:54.60 in the 200 Backstroke. Winterfield also placed fourth in the 200 Fly (1:58.14).

The Falcons will conclude the Air Force Invitational tomorrow at 11:00 am MT. The order of events for tomorrow are as follows:

-100 Fly
-200 Free
-10 minute break
-100 Breast
-100 Back

-400 Free Relay
