This Week: Air Force, ranked eighth in the nation, travels to Charleston, S.C., for a dual meet against No. 20 Citadel, Saturday, Jan. 28, at 9 a.m. ET.
Last Time vs. The Citadel: Air Force last competed against The Citadel in the 2017-18 season when the Falcons defeated the Bulldogs in pair of duals at the Academy.
Recently: No. 2 Alaska defeated No. 8 Air Force in a pair of duals at the Academy's Cadet Rifle Range, Jan. 21-22. On the first day, Alaska defeated Air Force, 4730-4717. Morgan Kreb was second overall with a 1182 aggregate score. Peninah D'Souza placed fifth with an 1181. Kreb won the smallbore competition with a 589. D'Souza was third in air rifle (1181) while Lauren Hurley was fourth (1176). Kreb's 589 smallbore was her second best of the season while her 1182 tied her season high. On day two, Air Force fell to Alaska, 4738-4714. D'Souza placed fourth overall with an aggregate score of 1182. Kreb was fifth (1180) and Hurley was sixth (1179). Kreb placed fourth in smallbore (586) and D'Souza was fifth (585). D'Souza was third in air rifle (597) and Hurley was fourth (596).
Top Performances: Junior Dante Aletto posted career highs of 579 smallbore and 1169 aggregate (at OSU) and 593 air rifle (President's Cup). Junior Peninah D'Souza's 587 smallbore and 1186 aggregate against TCU were her career highs. Sophomore Lauren Hurley set career highs with a 585 smallbore against WVU/TCU and 600 air rifle and 1182 aggregate against OSU. Junior Morgan Kreb set a career high in smallbore with a 590 against WVU/TCU. Her 1182 aggregate against Alaska was a season-high. Freshman Victoria Leppert shot career highs of 581 smallbore and 1173 aggregate against TCU and a 594 air rifle at Nebraska. Sophomore Scott Rockett's season highs in smallbore (589) and aggregate (1186) came against TCU while his season-high 598 air rifle was shot twice this season. Senior Jordan Williams' smallbore career high (587) and aggregate season high (1181) came at Akron while his season high 595 in air rifle came at the President's Trophy.
National Rankings: Sophomore Lauren Hurley's perfect score of 600 in air rifle against Ohio State (Nov. 20) is one of just four perfect scores on the season. Junior Peninah D'Souza's 599 in air rifle (Oct. 2) is tied as the fifth best in the nation. Air Force's air rifle team score of 2385 (Oct. 2) is the 12th best score in the nation this season.
On the Horizon: Following the dual at The Citadel, Air Force will compete in the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, Feb. 4-5, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
