Annamaria Ramos Named MW Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After a strong weekend that helped Air Force Volleyball to a perfect 2-0 week in league play, Annamaria Ramos was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week this morning (Nov. 13), when the conference office announced its weekly award winners.
The Henderson, Nev., native averaged 3.17 kills-per-set on .326 hitting (19-5-43), as the Falcons swept Nevada and Fresno State at the Academy on Nov. 9-11. Ramos set – or matched – her career-high totals in kills, hitting, assists, digs, solo blocks, assisted blocks and total blocks during the two wins. The freshman recorded an 11-kill performance in the 3-0 win over the Wolfpack, before adding eight kills on 19 swings with no errors for a personal-best .421 output during the straight set win over the Bulldogs. Defensively, Ramos tallied a career-high three blocks in the win over Fresno State, including a solo stop in the first set, and averaged 2.00 digs per set, highlighted by a personal-best nine-dig outing over Nevada.
Making just the third and fourth starts of her career, Ramos helped Air Force tally its program-record eighth Mountain West win of the season on Nov. 9 – and the program's Division I record-tying 17th win of the year on Nov. 11.
