
Air Force creates lead in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG- The Falcons advanced into Friday following yesterday's time trials, with Air Force having created a vast team lead in the first official day of competition at the Liberty TYR '85 Invite.
In the evening's final round of swims, the team of Ryan Mills, Catherine Dean, Alex Clark, and Abby Turner swam to a tight third-place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay, as the group combined for a time of 1:33.44.
Clark's contributions didn't end there, as her time of 2:03.04 in the 200 IM awarded her a third-place finish. As well, the junior now owns the fifth-best time in the 200 IM in Air Force history. Meanwhile, Turner was the Falcons top finisher in the 50 Freestyle, as her time of 23.44 awarded her seventh place.
Turner was also a member of Air Force's 400 Medley Relay squad, joining the likes of Anna Ashley, Naomi Furman, and Allana Clarke to garner a time of 3:44.71, good for fourth.
In the 500 Freestyle, Lauren Arnold (4:56.90) and Katelyn Andrist (4:57.48) closed to standings of third and fifth places.
On the boards, Kinzie Etzelmiller fell just five or so points short of the first-place diver, earning a score of 313.65 in the 3-Meter finals. Kadyn Macpherson (268.40) and Ashley Griffith (246.90) were seventh and eighth, respectively.
Air Force will enter Saturday with 1594.00 points, with Ohio University in second with 917.00 points.
The Falcons will resume action in Lynchburg on Saturday, with prelims beginning at 8:00 am MT and the final round picking back up at 4:00 pm MT.
