Air Force Downs VMI, 64-54, For Fourth Straight Win

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball held off VMI for a 64-54 win Wednesday afternoon at Clune Arena. The Falcons extend their win streak to four games, improving to 5-2 on the season.
Three Falcons reached double-figures in scoring, paced by 19 points each from juniors Beau Becker and Ethan Taylor. Junior Jeffrey Mills added 14 points.
Air Force was rolling early, holding VMI to 27 percent shooting in the first half, building to a 36-20 lead.
VMI came storming back in the second half, getting to within three points at 40-37 with 11:35 to go in the second half.
Senior Ethan Taylor squashed the Keydet rally with back-to-back three's as part of an 9-0 run to put the Falcons back up double-digits.
Taylor was 7-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-8 from three-point range. He also grabbed eight rebounds, to go with three assists and three steals.
Becker was 9-of-17 from the field for the Falcons, pulling down eight rebounds. He also tallied four blocked shots. Mills was 6-of-10 from the field, hitting a pair of threes. He added four assists and two steals.
The Falcons also had solid contributions from Chase Beasley and Kellan Boylan. Beasley scored seven points to go with six rebounds. Boylan scored five points, pulled down seven rebounds to go with four assists and two steals.
Air Force shot 45 percent from the field. The Falcons struggled from three-point range, shooting 28 percent.
Koree Cotton led VMI with 15 points. Air Force held the Keydets to 42 percent shooting on the day and just 19 percent form three-point range.
The Falcons return to action Sunday, Nov. 26 at South Dakota. The game tips at 12:30 pm CT.
