Two former Air Force All-Americans have been named to the Mountain West 25th Anniversary football team, according to an announcement today from the conference. Weston Steelhammer, a 2017 graduate, and Brad Roberts, a 2023 graduate, were named to the defensive and offensive teams, respectively.
Steelhammer is the Air Force career leader in interceptions with 18, which ranks second in Mountain West history. He earned multiple All-American honors in 2016 while leading the Falcons to a 10-win season. Steelhammer became the first Falcon to earn first-team all-Mountain West honors three times (2014-16). He was a finalist for the Lott Trophy for on and off the field accomplishments and one of 16 semifinalists for the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back, earning both honors in 2016.
Roberts won the national title in rushing yards in 2022 with a school-record 1,728 yards to become the first Falcon to win the national rushing title. Roberts also set single-season school records for carries (345) and 100-yard rushing games (11). He is the career record holder for rushing attempts (707) and 100-yard rushing games (20), while ranking third in rushing yards (3,541) and rushing touchdowns (35).
Roberts become just the third Falcon to earn Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors (2022) and first since 2007 and was a third-team All-American by College Football Network.
