
Falcons battle Aztecs in narrow dual loss

SAN DIEGO- Competing at the home of conference rival San Diego State, Air Force fell just short in Tuesday's dual, as the Falcons were defeated 128.00-120.00.
Among Air Force's individual successes, Mandy Fleetwood placed first in the 50 Breaststroke as the result of her 31.72. Maeve Linscott (31.91) and Naomi Furman (32.22) finished second and third, respectively. In the 500 Freestyle, Catherine Dean raced to a winning time of 5:15.59, while Katelyn Andrist (5:20.34) and Natalie Gembicki (5:22.38) touched out behind their teammate.
Andrist also managed a third-place standing in the 1000 Freestyle (10:41.03), while Furman was the Falcons highest placer in the 100 Breaststroke (1:07.69), also finishing in third. Ryan Mills had a busy afternoon, as the freshman placed third in both the 100 Freestyle (52.22) and the 100 Butterfly (57.79). She also swam to a fourth-place conclusion in the 50 Freestyle, closing the swim with a 24.16.
Ella Martin paced the field in the 100 Butterfly, clocking in at 56.37. As well, the junior nabbed a win in the 100 IM (1:00.15).
The Falcons "B" Team was victorious in the 400 Freestyle Relay, as the group of Dean, Audrey Laganelli, Eliana White, and Lily Bachl garnered a winning time of 3:34.50. Laganelli also swam in the 200 Freestyle, as her time of 1:54.18 was Air Force's top swim in the event.
The 50 Backstroke saw four Falcons finish in the 2-5 positions, with Anna Ashley's 27.09 as the standout mark. Allana Clarke participated in the hotly-contested 50 Butterfly, placing second with a time of 25.68.
Next, Air Force will not return to action until January 12, when the Falcons host Northern Colorado at Cadet Natatorium on Friday, January 12.
