LAS VEGAS – An impressive two-day performance by senior 184-pounder Sam Wolf concluded with the Falcon landing a fifth-place finish at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, Saturday evening at the Westgate Paradise Event Center.
Coming off an outstanding first day, Wolf's second day of action began in the semifinals against No. 9 Will Feldkamp of Iowa State. Feldkamp impressed with a 10-0 win over Wolf, sending the Falcon to the consolation bracket with a chance at third place.
In his consolation semifinals match, Wolf met with Big 12 contender No. 5 Dustin Plott of Oklahoma State. Plott outscored Wolf, 10-2, to advance to the third-place match. Wolf moved on to the fifth-place match where he squared off against Jaden Bullock of Michigan. Wolf scored the first and last takedowns in the 10-9 decision, sealing the deal on fifth place.

Wolf concluded the tournament with a 3-2 record, two of those wins coming against top-10 opponents in No. 3 Chris Foca (Cornell) and No. 8 Gavin Hoffman (Ohio State).
"We're grateful for the opportunity for our guys to go out there and compete at the Cliff Keen Invite," head coach Sam Barber said. "It's the premier tournament, it's the toughest guys in the nation from 15 of the top 20 teams in the NCAA—you get see the best of the best there and we were proud to have Air Force across our chest in that loaded field. I'm proud of our seniors who had big wins over higher-ranked guys, they showed a lot of grit in determination in getting those wins. Giano Petrucelli avenged a loss to a higher ranked opponent from Nebraska, a solid wrestler. Sam Wolf made a statement in knocking down two All-Americans, both of those guys were in the top-10— Wolf took it to four All-Americans in five matches and that shows where he sees himself, he knows he wants to be in that mix and competing at the highest level."
Next up, the Falcons open the Big 12 dual slate as they host West Virginia in Clune Arena on Friday (Dec. 8). Action is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
