
Alaska edges Air Force in rifle dual

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The University of Alaska, the defending NCAA Champions, narrowly defeated Air Force, 4719-4709, in a dual match Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Academy's Cadet Rifle Range.
The Nanooks had a slight edge in each event by winning the smallbore (2335-2332) and air rifle (2384-2377).
Junior Scott Rockett was the top Falcon, placing second in aggregate with an 1184, his second highest of the season. Senior Morgan Kreb was fourth overall with an 1179. Rockett placed second in smallbore with a season-high 589 while Kreb was third with a 586.
Senior Peninah D'Souza was second in air rifle with a 597. Rockett was fifth in air rifle with a 595 while Kreb was sixth with a 593.
The Falcons will next compete in the U.S. Winter Air Gun Championships, Dec. 8-13, at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
