Falcons Win Two at Lane Mills Memorial

RENO, Nev. – Juniors Dylan West and Nile Owens claimed titles for the Air Force boxing team on Saturday, Feb. 11, as six Falcons competed in the Mills Lane Memorial Invitational in Reno – part of a split-squad weekend that also saw contenders in Ohio.
West earned a unanimous decision over Washington's Julian Ruatos in a 139-pound matchup, while Owens claimed his victory after forcing the referee to stop his 156-pound contest with another Washington contender – Kevin Ibarra – before the final bell.
The Falcons split a pair of 156-pound contests, as sophomore Luke Kohout lost a 2-1 decision of Nevada's Joey Azar in his bout. Washington's Dominic Christenson earned a 147-pound decision over Jordan Dutcher, while freshmen Charlotte McPhee-Gillum and Alexandra Waller suffered decisions in the 112-pound (Alisha Santosh, UC Davis) and 119-pound (Zoe Co, California) bouts, respectively.
Air Force returns to the Academy on Friday, Feb. 17, for the opening night of the Wing Open Tournament.
