
Andrist success in 500 Free highlights Falcons second day in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas- Air Force made waves in the second day of competition at the Mountain West Championships, as one Falcon particularly soared at the CRWC Natatorium.
Katie Andrist, racing in the 500 Free, qualified for the championship round of the event after a preliminary time of 4:52.06. The freshman would eventually finish fifth-overall in the finals swim after timing out at 4:53.05, earning All-Conference honors in the process. Her preliminary time now sits as the third-fastest time in the 500 Free in program history.
Lauren Arnold placed 12th overall in the consolation finals after a time of 4:53.24. The sophomore surpassed her previous personal-best of 4:54.11, etching her name in Air Force history with the school's fourth-best time in the event.
The two combined to give Air Force 40 team points.
Corbyn Cormack qualified for the consolation finals of the 200 IM, where the sophomore finished as the winner of the eight-woman race. Cormack swam to a time of 1:59.82, placing ninth overall while scoring 20 team points.
Hanani Dona (2:02.00) and Ella Martin (2:04.54) placed 18th and 21st, respectively, in the 200 IM, as the two added a total of 11 team points to Air Force's total. Dona now owns the the third-quickest 200 IM time in Air Force history.
In the three-meter dive, Gabrielle Peltier (277.30) and Grace Treanor (273.05) placed 11th and 12th, respectively. Neither diver qualified for the championship round.
In the final event, Cormack, Kai-Min Tsuei, Abby Turner, and Kimmy Woolfenden placed sixth in the 400 Medley Relay. The group's time of 3:41.65 awarded Air Force 48 team points.
As a team, Air Force currently sits sixth among the nine teams with 281 points.
