Falcons place fourth at PRC Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team placed fourth at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, Sunday, Feb. 5, in Fairbanks, Alaska.
A pair of Falcons earned all-conference honors in air rifle as sophomore Lauren Hurley placed third and junior Peninah D'Souza placed sixth.
Both Hurley and D'Souza shot a 596 in the air rifle competition to qualify for the final round. Hurley earned air rifle all-conference honors for the second time in her career. D'Souza earned all-conference for the first time.
TCU, ranked No. 1 in the nation, won the PRC title with an aggregate score of 4750. No. 2 Alaska was second (4749) and No. 6 Nebraska was third (4724). Air Force, ranked seventh in the nation. used a strong showing in air rifle to jump Ohio State and finish fourth in the league with a team score of 4708. The Buckeyes, ranked 11th in the nation, finished fifth (4694) and UTEP was sixth (4567).
Air Force placed fourth for the second straight year. The team score of 4708 is the highest in the PRC Championship since that same score won the league title in 2019. The 4708 is the fourth highest score for the Falcons this season and the second highest road score of the year.
Air Force returns to action by hosting an NCAA Qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Cadet Rifle Range.
