
Air Force Sweeps Army and Navy at All-Service Academy Fencing Duels

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force fencing capped the 2022-23 season by sweeping Army and Navy at the All-Service Academy Fencing Duels on Saturday, April 15, at the Cadet (East) Gym.
The women's team defeated Army 22-5 and Navy 24-3. The men's team posted matching scores, defeating Army 22-5 and Navy 24-3. In head-to-head action between Army and Navy, the Army women defeated Navy 14-13 and the Army men defeated Navy 16-11.
The epee group led the way for the women's team, as Josie Ratzlaff, Valerie Slackman and Ellie Kim all sent 6-0 each for a combined 18-0 mark.
The women's saber group posted 13 bout victories. Mira Vestel went 6-0 and Tati Kong 4-0 to lead the group.
The foil squad had 15 bout victories. Melissa Kline went 6-0 and Ashley Graflund went 5-1 to lead the group.
The foil group led the way for the Falcon men's side, going 17-1. Jack Griffith went 6-0, Ned Maurer 5-0 and Griffin Peter 4-0 to lead the group.
The saber squad had 15 bout victories. Eric Iwamoto and Mack Luebbe both went 4-0 to lead the group.
The epee group posted 14 bout victories. Russell Cha went 4-0, Omar Emara 3-0 and Matthew Han 5-1 to lead the group.
In addition to the competition, Air Force honored its four seniors Matthew Han, Luke Kinney, Amy Kand and Kyle Villacorta. Air Force caps the season with a 12-14 record on the mens since and 12-15 record on the womens side.
