JACKSONVILLE- Opening the 2023 season against North Florida, Air Force found trouble creating offense, as the Falcons were bested 3-0 at Hodges Stadium.
The Ospreys opened the scoring in the 28th minute to create a 1-0 lead following a well-executed pass over the top of the Air Force back line.
In the 43rd minute, North Florida doubled its advantage as the result of a cross into the box from the far-side of the field. A bit of chaos in front of goalkeeper Sydney Davis saw the Osprey's second score sneak into the back of the net.
Air Force did create scoring chances in the first half, though the Falcons were whistled for five offside calls over the first 45 minutes.
The Ospreys tallied the final goal of the evening in the 87th minute following a foul in Air Force's 18-yard box. North Florida eventually converted from the spot, staking the home side to a 3-0 lead.
The Falcons ended opening night with eight total shots, half of which were on target.
Kendall Rippley was impressive in her first collegiate match, leading the Falcons with three total shots, including one on goal. Mia Otero provided two shots on goal as well, while Jordi Ives was also credited with an on-target strike.
Next, Air Force will travel to DeLand to take on the Stetson Hatters on Sunday, August 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 am MT.
