The Huskies were the first to crack the scoreboard in the 36th minute, as Washington's Jadyn Holdenried found space just outside the box, smashing a left-footed goal to take a 1-0 lead.
Washington carried its one-goal lead into the halftime break.
Just six minutes into the second-half, Cassi Bych made her presence known. The senior, having taken a corner kick, shorted a pass to Mia Otero, as the duo played a bit of give-and-go. Otero fed Bych on the near side of the field, allowing Bych to fire a perfect left-footed goal into the top-left corner of the net to tie the match.
The goal was Bych's first of the season, and her first since October 17, 2021. Otero now leads the Falcons with three assists.
As both teams battled for possession over the course of the second half, the Huskies managed to create a scoring chance in the 81st minute, leading to an Air Force foul in the penalty box.
The Huskies would go on to convert the penalty to take a 2-1 lead, the eventual final score.
Otero and Addie Doyle led the Falcons with four shots each, as Air Force out-shot Washington 18-12. Sydney Davis made a number of important saves on the afternoon, turning away four of the Huskies six shots on goal.
The loss accounts for the Falcons third-consecutive defeat, all coming by a 2-1 score.
Next, Air Force makes its Mountain West debut, hosting Utah State on Thursday, September 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm MT.
