
Air Force wraps up first day in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION- Air Force found itself in familiar territory to open the 2023-24 season, competing at the Intermountain Shootout on the campus of Colorado Mesa. On the first day of competition, the Falcons ended Friday's debut meet with a 0-3 record, currently trailing Utah, BYU and Colorado Mesa in head-to-head competition.
The teams scores from Friday evening are as follows:
Utah (154.00) - Air Force (48.00)
Colorado Mesa (165.00) - Air Force (40.00)
BYU (170.00) - Air Force (35.00)
Friday afforded the opportunity for the Falcons freshmen class to get its feet wet, competing in a variety of events.
Ralph Fiscus finished seventh in the 1000 Freestyle Finals, timing out at 9:56.50. Fiscus also swam in the 400 IM, placing 10th (4:14.04).
In the 1000 Freestyle, Tucker Rice clocked in at 10:13.21 to secure a 10th-place standing. The same event also included C4C's Gavin Dustin (10:23.20) and Benjamin Wong (10:33.53).
Joseph Moore anchored the Falcons 200 Freestyle Relay Team, helping lead freshmen Chase Dwornicki, Joe Christ, and Gavin Peterman. Air Force finished the relay with a time of 1:26.08 to finish seventh.
Moore also managed a ninth-place 50 Butterfly (23.08).
Alex Kenyon was one of two Falcons to compete in the men's 1-Meter Dive, placing fourth. The junior was judged for a total of 272.20, while Gavin Wixom was awarded 235.55 points.
Air Force will complete its time in Grand Junction on Saturday, September 30 with a scheduled start time of 10:30 am MT.
