Swimming and Diving to start new season in Grand Junction
9/28/2023 1:30:00 PM | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
The Air Force swimming and diving programs are set to begin a new campaign, as the Falcons will make their 2023-24 debut in Grand Junction at the Intermountain Shootout. The event runs from Friday, September 29 to Saturday, September 30 with 4:00 pm MT and 10:30 am MT start times, respectively.
Below are the order of the events at El Pomar Natatorium:
Friday, September 29 (4:00 pm MT)
Air Force, BYU, Colorado Mesa, CSU Pueblo, Utah
Men's Pool (4)
Air Force, BYU, Colorado Mesa, Utah
Women's Swimming and Diving Returners
The Falcons will have plenty of returning talent to lean on early and often throughout the 2023-24 season, including three All-Conference finishers from a season ago, those being Katelyn Andrist, Kai-Min Tsuei, and Abby Turner. Andrist made quite the impression during her freshman season, swimming to All-Conference honors in both the 500 and 1650 Freestyle. Tsuei earned such accolades in the 200 Backstroke, while Turner's success in the 100 Freestyle awarded her All-Conference status. In total, Air Force brings back 28 letterwinners from a season ago.
Men's Swimming and Diving Returners
In spite of the graduation of Wen Zhang, a two-time All-American and WAC Swimmer of the Year, Air Force retains ample talent both in the pool and on the boards. Camden Swigart, the WAC's 400 Individual Medley champion from a season ago, aims to build off of a stellar rookie season. Captains Joseph Moore and Tommy Nagle represent an abundance of experience in the pool, while other swimmers such as Louis Body, John Plutt, Anthony Sebastian, and James Winterfield all own program-best times. Alex Kenyon, now a junior, will be tasked with leading by example on the diving boards. Kenyon was the 3-Meter WAC champion as a freshmen in 2022, and owns the Air Force record score in the event (378.60).
