Air Force top service academy at Folds of Honor

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The Air Force golf team was the top service academy at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, Sept. 4-6, at the American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich.

The Falcons shot a 306 in the final round for a 54-hole team score of 915. Navy shot 936 and Army came in at 938.

Junior Cameron Kahle led the Falcons on the final day with a 74. Kahle made two birdies for his best round of the tournament. Freshman Eli Huntington shot 75 on the final day, playing the final five holes in one-under. Sophomore Alvaro Fonseca shot 77, playing his final five holes in three-under, while senior Max Heupel shot 80.

Fonseca was the top Falcon over the 54-hole tournament with a 225 followed by Huntington (229), Kahle (232), Heupel (232) and Ted Davenport (260).
Notre Dame rallied for a final round 282 (-2) and won the 18-team tournament with an 860. Michigan State, the host school, was second at 861 and Arkansas was third at 863. Kansas' Cecil Belisle won the individual title, and was the only player under par, with a 212 (-1).

Air Force returns home to host the 54^th Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Sunday-Tuesday, Sept. 10-12, at the Air Force Academy's Eisenhower Golf Club. The 24-team event will feature the team competition on the Blue Course and the individual competition on the Silver.
