LARAMIE – Air Force posted bonus point wins in three weight classes but ultimately fell to Big 12 rival Wyoming, 30-14, Friday evening in the UniWyo Sports complex. The Falcons drop to 2-3 on the season with an 0-2 mark in the Big 12.
The Pokes, now 4-5 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 action, picked up five bonus point wins in seven wins on the night. "Last year was the first time we lost to Air Force since I've been coaching here, so it feels a bit more personal," head coach Mark Branch said before the dual. The Cowboys got out to healthy lead with wins in the first five matches, highlighted by four-straight bonus point wins from 133 to 157.
The Falcons' senior leaders led by example as No. 15 Giano Petrucelli, No. 6 Sam Wolf, and No. 2 Wyatt Hendrickson posted bonus point wins in their respective classes.
Petrucelli was the first to strike for Air Force, denying Cooper Voorhees any offensive action while commanding a 10-1 major decision. Petrucelli has 11 wins this season, his third by major decision.
Wolf was next to add points to the team tally with a 15-4 major decision over Tyce Radon on three takedowns, a pair of escapes and the riding time point. The win marked Wolf's 10th of the season; he remains undefeated in dual action (3-0).
Wyatt Hendrickson continued his dominance in the heavyweight division, making short work of Colby Huynh with a fall in just 38 seconds. Hendrickson, in the hunt for his third straight NCAA Pins Leader Award, has 10 pins on the season.
