Air Force Downed At Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. - Air Force men's basketball (8-11, 1-6 MW) fell 84-70 at Fresno State (9-11, 2-5) MW in Mountain West play Saturday afternoon at Save Mart Center. Junior Beau Becker led the Falcons with 22 points.
Air Force led by three at the half, but Fresno State opened the second half with a 20-6 burst to lead by 11 after six minutes. The Bulldogs were unconscious from three, making 5 of 6 from long distance during that stretch.
The Falcons got the game back down to a six point game with seven minutes to play, but the Bulldogs responded with an 8-0 run to pull away.
Becker led Air Force with 9 of 15 shooting from the field and 4 of 8 from three. Junior Jeffrey Mills scored 15 points, making a career-high three three's. His six assists was a season high. Sophomore Rytis Petraitis scored 14 points, to go with five rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.
Kellan Boylan led the Falcons with six rebounds. Byron Brown was the top scorer off the bench, with eight points on 3 of 4 shooting.
Center Enoch Boakye led five Fresno State players in double figures with a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Xavier DuSell made five three's and finished with 15 points. Fresno State shot 53 percent from the field for the game.
The opening half featured hot shooting from both teams, as Air Force took a 43-40 lead at the break. Both teams shot 59 percent from the field in the opening half.
The Falcons shot 57 percent from three, connecting on 8 of 14 attempts. Ethan Taylor's three as time expired gave the Falcons the halftime lead.
For the game, Air Force shot 49 percent from the field and 44 percent from three. The Falcons made 11 three's. Fresno State dominated boards, out-rebounding the Falcons 34-23.
