Air Force Football meets with local media

Air Force Head Coach Troy Calhoun, along with senior tailback Aiden Calvert and senior linebacker Osaro Aihie, talked with members of the local media to discuss the Navy game. Air Force hosts Navy Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. MT in Falcon Stadium.
Air Force leads the overall series, 34-22. The Falcons are 20-7 at home, 10-12 at Navy and 4-3 in neutral site games. Air Force has won four straight and five of the last six overall. The Falcons have won six straight at home dating back to 2012.
Air Force defeated Navy, 17-6, last season in Annapolis to record its fourth straight win in the series. Zac Larrier and Dane Kinamon got the Falcons started, connecting on a school-record 94-yard passing touchdown on the first play of the second quarter to put the Falcons up 7-0. Matthew Dapore added a field goal in the third quarter to make it 10-0. Alec Mock added an 18-yard interception return for a touchdown to make it 17-0 late in the fourth quarter. Navy scored a late touchdown to make up the final margin. Air Force had 288 total yards, including 151 passing and 137 rushing. Larrier hit 4-5 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown while Emmanuel Michel added 69 yards rushing on 22 carries. The defense was dominant, holding Navy to just 124 total yards on 64 plays, an average of 1.9 per play. Air Force held Navy to 22 yards rushing on 35 carries. Johnathan Youngblood led the way with a career-high 13 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. Bo Richter recorded seven tackles and 4.0 for loss.

The Falcons answered with a 22-yard field goal from Dapore to take the lead for good with 4:14 remaining. Following a Navy punt, the Falcons ran out the clock to secure the win. Daniels put the game away with an 18-yard run on third-and-six for a first down. A few kneel downs later ended the game. Air Force used a balanced attack to finish with 356 total yards, including 200 rushing and a season-best 156 passing. Brad Roberts led the team with 108 yards on 23 carries while Daniels added 65 rushing and hit six-of-eight passes for 156 yards and a score. The defense held Navy to 243 total yards. Alec Mock led the way with a career-high 13 tackles.
The 2024 season marks the 53rd year of Commander-in-Chief's trophy competition. The trophy goes annually to the winning academy with the best record in the round-robin competition. The winning team goes to the White House to receive the trophy from the President of the United States. Air Force has a series best 66-38 CIC record and has won a series-best 21 trophy titles.
