Elise Bell, Naomi Brabham Collect Wins in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior Elise Bell and sophomore Naomi Brabham captured titles for the Air Force boxing team on Saturday, Oct. 19, as the Falcons wrapped up competition at the Buckeye Brawl in Columbus. The pair headlined an eight-bout night for Air Force that included several close bouts and the event's Fight of the Night.
Bell claimed a 135-pound victory over Cincinnati's Alayna Reckner during the afternoon card, while Brabham captured her 115-pound title during the evening card, as she decisioned Ihyliea McKeen from Crandall University in Canada.
One other member of the women's team also competed on Saturday, as junior Chinonye Mbanugo suffered a narrow 145-pound decision to Cincinnati's Jordan Evanko. On the men's side, five Falcons fought at the annual event inside the Columbus Athletic Club. Junior Duong Tran dropped a 130-pound decision to Ohio State's Jai-shon Thompson in a hard-hitting contest that was awarded the Fight of the Night, while classmate Nick Post dropped a slugfest to Cincinnati's Michael Dempsey in the 185-pound division. Sophomores James Burnias and Ellison Taylor suffered losses by decisions in the 140-pound (Ohio State's Liam Mackessy) and 175-pound (Cincinnati's Sam Miranda)weight divisions, respectively, while senior Andrew Lu rounded out the lineup with a 130-pound decision to Miami's Danny Comez.
The Falcons return to the Midwest on Friday (Oct. 25) to face off against Army West Point and Navy at the annual Chuck Davey Invitational in Detroit.
