Air Force Falls To Belmont, 79-71

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (1-3) dropped a 79-71 contest to Belmont (3-1) Friday night at Clune Arena. The Falcons had four players in double figures scoring, led by sophomore forward Caleb Walker's 17 points.
Belmont did its damage from long range, making 13 three's. The Bruins had four players make multiple three's with three making three. Carter Whitt led Belmont with 16 points, going 3 of 5 from three.s
Air Force came out strong, building to a 13-2 start highlighted by eight points on a pair of three's and a third basket by freshman Sam Duskin.
Belmont responded with an 8-0 run to pull to within three before the Falcons stopped the rally with a bucket. The Bruins then went on a 6-0 run to take its first lead. The teams would trade leads before Belmont went ahead 32-30 with 2:08 to go in the opening half. A 7-2 run by Belmont had the Bruins up 37-32 at halftime.
The game remained back-and-forth for much of the second-half. Air Force got the game to within three points with 14:23 left and stayed within four points with nine minutes to go. Belmont then remained ahead by several buckets the rest of the way out.
Joining Walker in double figures were seniors Ethan Taylor and Jeffrey Mills and Duskin. Walker was 5-of-6 from the field and 7-9 from the line. He also added six rebounds and drew eight fouls.
Taylor notched his second double-double on the season with 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Mills scored 12 points and had six assist with zero turnovers. Duskin had a career-high 13 points, making three threes.
Air Force shot 46 percent from the field. The Falcons had a season-high 22 assists on 25 made baskets.
Air Force returns to action Thursday, Nov. 21, at Cal. The game is slated for a 7 pm PT tip in Berkeley, Calif.
