
Air Force takes second in tri-meet

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team took second place at the tri-meet, Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Olympic Training Center.
Kentucky, ranked No. 1 in the nation, shot a 4748, Air Force came in second with a 4720, the second highest score of the season and the 10th best in school history. Akron, ranked 12th in the nation, shot a 4707.
Kentucky's Braden Peiser won the aggregate with a score of 1194. Air Force freshman Lily Wytko was third overall with an 1185. Senior Lauren Hurley was fifth with an 1182 while junior Victorie Leppert was eighth with an 1178.
Wytko was fourth in both smallbore (588) and air rifle (597). Hurley was sixth in both with a 586 smallbore and 596 air rifle.
In smallbore, Scott Rockett shot a 583, followed by Megan Torrence (582), Bethany Butler (582), William Steen (577), Rushii Punukollu (569), Elijah Butler (568), Caden Cavanaugh (566).
In air rifle, Leppert and Torrence each shot a 592, followed by Bethany Butler (589), Rockett (589), Punukollu (586), Pruitt Bain (582), Steen (581), Elijah Butler (581) and Cavanagh (570).
Air Force returns to action with a pair of duals at The Citadel, Jan. 18-19, in Charleston, S.C.
