Air Force welcomes the Sooners and fans to Clune Arena for the first home action of the season

The Falcons open the 2024-25 dual slate against the 19th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners, Friday evening at the United States Air Force Academy. The Sooners bring in a stacked group led by No. 9 Gavin Sax who was a 2024 NCAA qualifier at North Dakota State.
Seven OU wrestlers brandish a top 30 number in front of their name. No. 16 Cleveland Belton is a two-time NCAA qualifier. No. 18 Mosha Schwartz was a three-time NCAA qualifier with Northern Colorado. No. 26 DJ Parker qualified for last season's NCAA Tournament with No. 23 Bradley Hill who qualified with Iowa.

The Falcons return three wrestlers with dual lineup experience in Bubba Wright, Jack Ganos, and Gage Musser. Joining the veterans is four freshmen in Carter Nogle, EJ Beloncik, Andrew Harmon, and Brian Burburija. Gavin Caprella and Antonio Ramos, who have both seen dual action for the Falcons, represent the sophomore class, while Alec Viduya, Ganos, and Musser represent the senior leaders.

Air Force traveled to Norman for dual action, February 14, 2020. A veteran Falcon group came up short, 24-10, behind wins in three divisions.
LAST WEEKEND
Air Force opened the 2024-25 campaign with a pair of runners up finishes and five placers in staunch competition at the Battle at the Citadel, Sunday afternoon, in The Citadel's McAlister Field House. Wrestlers from Appalachian State, Duke, George Mason, North Carolina State, and The Citadel were in attendance.
Senior Jack Ganos (174) and sophomore Bubba Wright (125) led the Falcons as they battled to the finals match in their respective divisions. Freshmen Brian Burburija and Andrew Harmon alongside sophomore heavyweight Antonio Ramo finish on the podium.

The Falcons continue Big 12 dual action against California Baptist on the road, November 22. Action at Riverside, California, is slated for a 5 pm PT/6 MT start

AT THE HELM
Sam Barber enters his 11th season at the helm of the Air Force wrestling program in 2024-25. Before taking over the head coaching position, Barber spent the previous five years as a full-time assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, marking 17 seasons of coaching experience at the Academy.
Barber has led Falcons to two top-25 NCAA team finishes, two NCAA Div. I All-American honors, 31 National Qualifiers, two Big 12 Champions, and 38 Big 12 medalists. He helped lead eight cadet-athletes that have competed on the international stage garnering a United World Wrestling World Champion and Pan-American Champion. In addition to success on the mat, Barber has also mentored the Falcons in the classroom, as he guided 21 Falcons to become NWCA Scholar All-Americans. At the same time, his athletes have been named to academic all-conference teams 90 times.
