Air Force Rallies To 73-67 Win Over Jacksonville State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (1-1) rallied from an 11-point deficit to take down Jacksonville State (1-1) for its first win of the season Thursday night at Clune Arena. Senior guard Ethan Taylor recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way.
The Falcons trailed by eight at 30-22 at the half. The Falcons shot just 33 percent from the field and 27 percent from three-point range in the opening half.
After Jax St. hit a three to open the second half to go up 11, Air Force began to fight its way back. A 12-0 run out the Falcons ahead 42-40 at the 13:29 mark of a three from Taylor.
The Gamecocks would go back up by four, but a 12-2 run by the Falcons put them ahead by six with 6:45 to play. Highlighting the 12-2 run was seven points by freshman Kyle Marshall and five by sophomore Caleb Walker. Back-to-back dunks to start the run, including the second one by Walker, put the Falcons ahead with them never trailing after.
Air Force shot 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from three in the second half. The Falcons out-scored Jax St. 51-37 in the second half.
Four Falcons reached double-figures in scoring, led by Taylor. Senior Jeffrey Mills scored 18 points, making four three's and dishing out four assists. Sophomore Luke Kearney scored 13 points, making three three's. Walker scored 10 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
Air Force hit 12 three's on the night, dishing out 19 assists on its 26 made baskets.
The rally from double-digits was its first since coming back from a 12-point deficit to defeat Wyoming on Jan. 17, 2023.
Air Force returns to action on Veteran's Day Monday, Nov. 11, hosting LIU. The game is slated for a 2 pm MT tip.
