Air Force Downed By Miami (Ohio) 73-60

OXFORD, Ohio - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 73-60 contest at Miami (Ohio) (5-2) Monday night at Millett Hall. Sophomore Luke Kearney led the Falcons with 16 points.
The Falcons were unable to hold a one-point halftime lead, as the Redhawks rallied. Guard Peter Suder erupted for 42 points, with 25 coming in the second-half. Suder shot 17 of 21 from the field.
Aided by 50 percent shooting from three, the Falcons led 30-29 at halftime. The Falcons made 6 of 12 from long-range, with Kearney connecting on three.
Miami led 9-2 early, before a 11-2 run put the Falcons ahead 13-11 at the 12:44 mark. The Redhawks went back up by five, before a 7-0 run had the Falcons back up 23-21 at the 5:44 mark. The Falcons did not trail the rest of the half, while holding Miami to just three field goals across the last eight minutes.
Miami took control of the game early in the second half, by erasing Air Force's one-point lead with a 9-0 run. The Redhawks did not relinquish the lead after. Air Force battled back and got the game to within four points under seven minutes to play. But an 8-0 run, with Suder scoring all eight points, stopped the Falcon rally.
Kearney tied career-high's with his 16 points and four three's. Joining him in double-figures were senior Ethan Taylor and sophomore Caleb Walker. Taylor scored 12 points, to go with a team-high five assists and two steals. Walker added 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Freshman Kyle Marshall was also a bright spot with seven points in reserve. Senior Jeffrey Mills added eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
Air Force shot 49 percent from the field and 46 percent from three on the night.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Dec. 7, against Stony Brook. The game is part of the Legends Showcase and tips at 2 pm CT at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
