Falcons Have Strong Showing in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio– Air Force Boxing went 8-4 at the Beef and Boxing event this evening (Feb. 10) at the Athletic Club of Columbus in Ohio.
Senior Dylan West, who was named the team's Boxer of the Night, was one of two Falcons to win by unanimous decision in the Main Card – and one of five in the full event – as he claimed the 5-0 victory in his 141-pound bout with Cincinnati's Jay Hemmerle. Classmate Angelo Ganac also defeated a Cincinnati boxer by sweeping the judges' votes, as he decisioned Paris Lee in the 185-pound contest.
Sophomore Jaxon Wardle captured a majority decision in his 160-pound bout with Dayton's Tucker Von Baren, while classmate Chinonye Mbanugo and senior Keillan Laurenceau won their respective bouts by split decisions – Mbanugo claiming a 3-2 win over Ohio State's Ellia Yi at 140 pounds and Laurenceau decisioning Miami Ohio's Aman Jenkins at 158 pounds.
