Luke Kohout Claims Win at WAC Main Event

SEATTLE, Wash. – Junior Luke Kohout picked up a 158-pound victory over Navy's Kole Songonuga this evening (Feb. 3), as three members of the Air Force boxing team wrapped up competition at the prestigious WAC Main Event in Seattle. Following his win by decision, Kohout was named the team's Boxer of the Week.
Classmate Leo Camacho (128 pounds, vs Washington's Justin Wong) and sophomore KJ Johnson (132 pounds, vs Miami Ohio's Danny Gordon) also competed at the Washington Athletic Center on Saturday, but lost by decision in their respective bouts.
With Kohout's victory, the Falcons finished the two-day event with a 3-2 mark, as classmate Victor Benitez (heavyweight) and freshman Jonathon Watson (170 pounds) captured wins on Friday.
Air Force will split for a pair of bouts next week, as some Falcons travel to Reno for the Lane Mills Memorial Classic on Feb. 9, and another group heads to Columbus, Ohio, for the Beef & Boxing event on Feb. 10.
