Air Force Falls To #24 San Diego State, 77-64

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball (8-14, 1-9 MW) fell 77-64 to #24 San Diego State (18-5, 7-3 MW) in Mountain West play Tuesday night at Clune Arena. Juniors Beau Becker and Jeffrey Mills led the Falcons with 15 points each.
San Diego State was dominant early, jumping ahead 45-20 at the half. The Aztecs shot 70 percent from the field and 73 percent from three in the opening half.
Guard Reece Waters led San Diego State with 15 points. Forward Jaedon Ledee added 14 points and nine rebounds.
Becker was 5-for-6 from the field and 4-for-4 from three-point range. Mills made three three's, adding three assists and a steal.
Junior Byron Brown added nine points in his first-career start. Brown also had three rebounds and two blocked shots.
Air Force got some production out of a pair of freshmen in Luke Kearney and Kolby Gilles. Kearney scored seven points and Gilles added a career-high six points.
After the tough first-half, the Falcons played much better in the second-half, out-scoring the Aztecs by 12 at 44-32. The Falcons shot 58 percent from the field and 67 percent from three in the second half. For the game, the Falcons shot 46 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Feb. 10, hosting Fresno State. The game tips at 1 pm MT.
