
Swimmers conclude CSCAA NIC

OCALA- Both sides of the Air Force swimming programs took part in the 2024 CSCAA National Invitational Championship over the weekend, as the Falcons wrapped up the 2023-24 season in Florida.
Among the women, swimmers such as Naomi Furman, Maeve Linscott, Amber Martin, Ella Martin, Ryan Mills, Kai-Min Tsuei, Abby Turner, and Corinne Yorkman all competed in their respective events.
Tsuei led off the festivities in the 50 Backstroke, clocking in at 26.55 after a seed time of 26.43. Freshman Amber Martin swam to a 25.03 in the 50 Butterfly preliminaries, earning a spot in the final round. There, Martin produced a 25.11 to finish 10th overall.
In the 50 Breaststroke, both Furman (29.40) and Linscott (29.42) placed neck-and-neck in 38th and 39th, respectively. Furman's preliminary time now stands as a personal-best in the event.
Abby Turner swam in the 50 Freestyle, producing a preliminary time of 24.09 following a seed time of 23.12. Tsuei, Linscott, Martin, and Turner combined for a 3:47.98 in the 400 Medley Relay.
Racing in the long-course time trials, Ella Martin's 2:29.28 in the 200-Meter IM saw her finish 12th, missing the 2:16.09 qualification standard.
Amber Martin bested her seed time to post a 1:04.56 in the 100-Meter Butterfly, though she was unable to crack the 1:00.19 standard.
Needing to post at least a 1:10.29 for Olympic Trials qualification, Furman (1:12.90) and Linscott (1:15.51) fell just short in the 100-Meter Breaststroke.
Tsuei's 1:06.70 in the 100-Meter Backstroke saw her finish eighth, though she did not meet the 1:01.89 benchmark for further advancement. Yorkman (2:22.58) was also short of the 2:13.59 needed in the 200-Meter Backstroke.
Turner also swam in the 100-Meter Freestyle, as the junior topped her seed time of 58.89 to clock in at 58.46, though she needed a minimum of 55.79 for trials qualification. Turner's time was good for fourth among the 13 swimmers. Turner also turned in a 26.98 in the 50-Meter Freestyle,
Ryan Mills also swam in the 100-Meter Freestyle, recording a top time of 58.78 in her two tries.
Representing the men, Tommy Nagle had a solid weekend of work in Florida. His 24.88 in his preliminary 50 Breaststroke swim now stands as a personal best. He would eventually finish 15th overall with a 24.96 in the "B" final of the event.
Though coming up just short of the 1:02.19 standard for Olympic Trials qualification in the 100-Meter Breaststroke, Nagle went on to win both time trials following times of 1:02.97 and a later 1:02.70.
Bridon Rosales also swam in the 50 Breaststroke, notching a 25.79 in his only participation. Anthony Sebastian wasn't far behind with a 26.05 of his own.
Camden Swigart managed a solid showing in the 200 IM, posting a preliminary time of 1:48.50 to earn a slot in the 'A" final. In his evening swim, Swigart topped his morning time to post a 1:48.09, placing 10th. Meanwhile, James Winterfield clocked in at 1:49.90 in the same swim, representing his best time at the meet.
Swigart also took part in the 200-Meter IM in the long-course trials, finishing second with a 2:05.84. The sophomore needed a 2:03.49 or better for Olympic consideration.
Winterfield returned for the 100-Meter Butterfly, beating his seed time for a 56.37 to finish sixth. He did not meet the 53.59 standard for advancement.
The 100-Meter Breaststroke saw Sebastian and Rosales both top their initial times as well. The sophomore duo managed respective top times of 1:05.34 and 1:05.41.
