Falcons shoot best round on final day at El Macero

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team shot its best round on the final day of the El Macero Classic, Sunday, April 14, at the El Macero Golf Club in El Macero, Calif.

Sophomore Alvaro Fonseca led the Falcons with an even-par 72 in the final round. Fonseca made three birdies, with three bogeys and 12 pars on the day. Junior Cameron Kahle shot a 74 on the final day while freshmen Carson Baker and Eli Huntington each shot 78 and junior Chris Park shot 79.

Fonseca was the top Falcon over the 54-hole tournament with a 227, tying for 36^th overall. Kahle shot a 228, followed by Baker (237), Huntington (242) and Park (244).

Sophomore Brooks Morrell, competing as an individual, shot a 78 on the final day and finished the tournament with a 230, tied for 55^th overall.

Air Force shot a 302 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 926 to place 15^th. St. Mary's won the tournament with an 879. Grand Canyon and UC San Diego tied for second at 886.

Air Force will close out the regular season at the Mountain West Championships, April 26-28, at the Emeral Valley Golf Course in Crewell, Ore.
