Air Force places 10th in Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team finished in 10th place at the 55th Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Monday, Sept. 23, at the Eisenhower Golf Club. The Falcons shot a 290 (+2) on the final day and finished with an 878 (+14) for the 54-hole tournament. The 10th place finish and the 878 are the best by the Falcons at the GMFI since the 2019 team placed fourth at 862.
In the final round, sophomore Eli Huntington shot a collegiate career best round of 67 (-5). He was the top Falcon in the tournament, tying for sixth of 110 golfers with a 213 ( -3), shooting 76-70-67. In the final round, Huntington made six birdies with just one bogey in the final round.
Junior Brooks Morrell made three birdies in the final round and shot a 218 (+2), going 73-71-74 in the tournament. Senior Christopher Park birdied three of his final five holes in the third round and shot 224 over 54 holes. Senior Cameron Kahle shot 225 and sophomore Carson Baker shot 228. CSU's Matthew Wilkinson won the individual title with a 206 (-10).
Colorado State won the team title for the third straight season, finishing with an 850 (-14). Utah State was second at 859 (-5), UC Davis was third at 861 (-3), San Jose State was fourth at 863 (-1) and Gonzaga was fifth at 865 (+1).
In the individual event on the Silver Course, Wyoming's Davis Seybert won the event with a 207 (-9), going 68-69-70. San Jose State's Alaric Mercie was second (209) and CSU's Roy Williamson, who shot 64 in the opening round, was third at 211. Air Force junior Eric Liveringhouse was fifth at 214 (-2), shooting 73-70-71. Falcon junior Ted Davenport was 11th at 216 and sophomore Alvaro Fonseca was 12th at 217. Grant Samuelson shot 226 and freshman Jackson Scaletta shot 232.
Air Force returns to action at the Mark Simpson Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, hosted by the University of Colorado at the Colorado National Golf Course in Erie, Colo.
