Air Force Splits Games at #1 UCLA and Chapman

Air Force men's water polo (9-8) split two games Saturday in non-conference action in Southern California. The Falcons fell 21-6 at #1 UCLA but rallied to take down Chapman 14-9 in the nightcap.
Against UCLA, the Falcons were held to three goals in the first half, while the Bruins had 14 goals by the half. Air Force out-scored the Bruins 5-3 in the third quarter and had seven total goals in the second half.
Tom Leggett led the Falcons with five goals scored. Kaito Ham added two goals and Jacob Yi had a team-high four assists. Luca Smith started in goal, recording six saves.
Against Chapman, the Falcons avenged a 20-10 loss to the Panthers two weekends ago in Fullerton. Air Force led 4-3 after the first quarter and 7-6 at the half. The Falcons began to pull away with a 5-2 advantage in the third quarter. The defense locked Chapman down in the fourth, allowing just one goal while scoring two.
Ham led the Falcons with four goals scored. Jack Richards notched a hat trick with three goals. Smith notched 12 saves in the win in goal.
Air Force returns to action next weekend with four games at the Gary Troyer Classic in Claremont/Pomona/La Verne and a Sunday game at UC San Diego.
