DAVIDSON, N.C. – Air Force wrestlers imposed their will on the Davidson Wildcats in a 43-4 dual meet win in John M. Belk Arena, Sunday afternoon. The Falcons posted bonus point wins in five weight classes as they extend to 4-0 on the non-conference dual schedule.
Senior 174-pounder Jack Ganos got the Falcons off to a strong start with a clinic that led to a pin (4:24) against Mark Koch in the opening bout. Ganos concluded the weekend with two bonus point wins and his 12th win of the season. Senior team captain and two-time Warthog of the Week winner Gage Musser continued his roll with a commanding 11-1 major decision over Brett Sanderlin. The win marked Musser's 14th of the season and his third-straight dual meet win.
Freshman standout Brian Burburija continued Air Force's dominance over the Wildcats as he registered a first period fall over Josh Lange (2:48). The win marks Burburija's 18th win of the season as his dual record improved to 6-3. Burburija is on a three-match win streak and scored bonus points in both duals over the weekend. Sophomore teammate Antonio Ramos notched his second bonus point win of the weekend in the form of disqualification over DJ Spring II in the third period. Ramos is now 4-5 in dual action and has 14 wins on the campaign.
Davidson was unable to provide a wrestler for the 125 division, forfeiting six more points to the Falcons. At 133, junior Nick Gonzalez got the call to bump up from 125. Gonzalez took on Enis Ljikovic where he put on a crisp performance to blank the Wildcat, 4-0.
Freshman standout Carter Nogle continued his tear with a second-period pin (4:00) over Bryce Clement, marking his fourth pin in dual action this season. Nogle leads the Falcons with 19 wins and 12 falls this season.
Alec Viduya (149) and Logan Fowler (165) rounded out the Air Force victories as they posted decision wins in their respective bouts. Davidson scored a major decision at 157 to deter the shutout.
The Falcons return to action on February 7 against Utah Valley in Orem for Big 12 Conference dual action. Wrestling in Lockhart Arena is scheduled for 7 pm MT. A small contingent of wrestlers will make a much shorter trip down to the USAFA Prep School for dual action with the Huskies under Head coach Tim Alger and 2d Lt Sam Wolf. Action at the Prep School is scheduled for 3:30 pm MT.
