OREM – Four Falcons picked up wins across 10 divisions but ultimately fell to Utah Valley, 24-15, Friday evening in Lockhart Arena. Air Force drops to 4-6 on the season and remain in the hunt for a Big 12 dual win. UVU improved to 6-7, 3-4 Big 12.
The USAFA C4Cs led the charge in Orem with three of the four wins coming from Falcon Freshmen. The class of 2028 accounts for 27 dual meet wins so far this season.
Freshman standout Carter Nogle was the first to put the Falcons on the board with a second period pin over Patrick Mullen. Nogle was up 12-1 on the score card before securing his 13th pin of the season to remain top-10 in the nation for Division I pins. Nogle, who is on a four dual match win streak, has 20 wins on the season for the most by any Falcon.
Freshman teammate Josh Palacio checked the box on his first Big 12 dual meet win, battling back from an early deficit against Tanner Frothinger. Palacio found his rhythm and scored four takedowns while denying the Wolverine any in return, nearly winning by major decision until giving up a stall point with one second remaining, 13-6.
Senior team captain No. 31 Gage Musser improved the Falcons' position in the team score with a convincing 4-1 decision win over Caleb Ulenhopp. The win marked Musser's fourth straight in dual action and 15th overall this season.
Freshman 197-pounder Brian Burburija put Air Force in striking distance with a dominant 10-5 decision over Kale Bennie. Burburija improved to 19 wins on the season with his fifth straight dual meet win.
Utah Valley secured the dual win in the final bout as Jack Fobres outscored Antonio Ramos by major decision.
At 125, Nico Tocci took his first dual meet loss this season after losing an early lead to Bridger Ricks who came out on top, 4-2. At 165, freshman Logan Fowler showed promise in scoring a reversal against No. 4 Terrell Barraclough, a redshirt senior transfer from Penn State.
Next up, Air Force will travel straight to Bakersfield, California, to take on CSU Bakersfield on Sunday (Feb. 9). Action is slated for 11 am PT in the Icardo Center.
