1/30/2025 3:50:00 PM | Cross Country
NEW ORLEANS – Air Force senior Ally Peterson was named an All-Academic Athlete by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this afternoon (Jan. 30), while both the men and women were honored with All-Academic Team status by the USTFCCCA for their success in the classroom last fall.
It is the first academic selection in cross country for Peterson, a biology major with a 3.35 GPA, who became the 12th Falcon to garner individual USTFCCCA academic honors at the Division I level. Peterson had a strong senior season for the Falcons, capturing all-conference (ninth) and all-region (18th) honors – the latter, in conjunction with her GPA, securing her a spot on the All-Academic Athlete list.
This was the sixth season that both squads have captured All-Academic Team status in the same season, with the men holding a 3.15 GPA and the women finishing the fall with a mark of 3.11. Overall, the men have earned the academic honor 11 times, while the women have claimed the distinction in 13 seasons, including six of the last seven.
To receive individual academic citations, athletes must meet the GPA minimum of 3.25 and place within the top-25 of their respective regional championship, while team status is earned by each squad maintaining a GPA of at least 3.00 under the association's specific formula.
