Air Force Downed at (RV/RV) San Diego State

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 67-38 contest at San Diego State (10-3, 3-1 MW) in Mountain West play on Wednesday night at Viejas Arena. Senior guard Ethan Taylor led the Falcons with 11 points.
In a wild first half, Air Force led by as many as 12, before a furious rally by San Diego that had the Falcons trailing 33-24 at the half.
Trailing by three early, the Falcons went on a 17-2 run to go up 20-8 with 11:01 to play. Air Force hit three three's during the run.
San Diego State then ratched up their defensive effort, going on a 12-0 run to tie the game up at 20-20 at the 5:45 mark. After the Falcons went back up with a bucket by Sam Duskin, SDSU went on a 10-0 run to go up 30-22. The teams traded buckets before the half ended.
The Aztecs opened the half with a 15-0 burst to put the game out of reach early in the second half. Air Force struggled with the defensive pressure by San Diego State all night, committing 20 turnovers, which led to 24 points by the Aztecs. San Diego State also out-rebounded the Falcons 49-24 on the night, including a 24-2 advantage in offensive boards.
Guard Nick Boyd led three Aztecs in double figures with 16 points. Jared Coleman-Jones notched a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Taylor was the lone Falcon in double figures. He made three three's and also led Air Force with five rebounds and three steals. Sophomore forward Luke Kearney scored nine points, going 4-for-4 from the line.
Air Force did block five shots, the most since the LIU game and one shy of the season high. Byron Brown led the Falcons with two blocked shots.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 11, hosting San Jose State. Tip time is slated for 1 pm MT at Clune Arena with the game slated to be broadcast by Altitude and streamed on the MWN.
