Air Force Falls to Grand Canyon in First Conference Matchup

PHOENIX -- The Air Force volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to conference newcomer Grand Canyon this evening (Oct. 30) in Phoenix during the first Mountain West meeting between the two programs. After using a late comeback to secure a 25-17 win in the first set, the Falcons (11-12, 3-8 MW) fell 18-25, 18-25, 19-25 to the host Lopes (14-8, 6-5 MW) at Global Credit Union Arena.
 
Senior Ashley Bible had a stellar outing during her first match in Arizona, collecting a match-high 19 kills on .273 hitting (19-7-44). Sophomore Alysa Walker also had a strong night, accounting for double-digit kills (13) and hitting over .200 (.205). Walker also posted a team-high 17 digs for her ninth double-double of the year, while she and Bible – who added 10 digs for her sixth double-double of the season – combined for three service aces (two for Bible, one for Walker).
 
The pair helped Air Force to eight aces on the night, as senior Jordan Suan served up three and freshman Sam Pope added two. Pope also led the team in assists with 20, while sophomore Grace Fiaseu (three assisted), senior Alex Hatchett (one solo, two assisted) and sophomore Brooksie Isham (two solo, one assisted) led the team in blocks with three each.
 
Air Force will wrap up a four-match road swing on Saturday (Nov. 1), when it travels to Albuquerque to face New Mexico at 1:00 p.m. (MT) inside Johnson Gym.
