Air Force rolls past Colorado State in season finale

Air Force defeated Colorado State, 41-21, Friday afternoon at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colo. The Falcons used a dominant first quarter and never looked back.

Bruin Fleishmann and Josh Johnson connected on a 55-yard scoring strike on the game's opening drive to put the Falcons up, 7-0. Following a three-and-out by the defense, Owen Allen scored on a six-yard run to put the Falcons in front, 14-0. Air Force had 147 total yards in the first quarter, including 76 rushing and 71 passing while holding the Rams to -2 total yards on six plays. The Falcons held a 12:29 to 2:31 advantage in time of possession.

Colorado State got on the board with a Jackson Brousseau to Tay Lanier TD connection to cut the lead to 14-7, but the Falcons answered with a Kemper Hodges one-yard touchdown run to take a 21-7 halftime lead.

Following a Colorado State touchdown to open the third quarter, Johnson scored on a three-yard run to extend the lead to 28-14. Johnson and Fleischmann connected again early in the fourth quarter to make it 35-14 with 9:09 left. Following a CSU score, the Falcons ended it with a second touchdown run from Allen, this one from seven yards to make up the final margin.

Air Force had 420 total yards, including 316 rushing and 104 passing. The Falcons also posted a season-best 40:47 mark in time of possession. Allen finished with a game-high 107 rushing yards and two scores. Hodges added 87 yards. Johnson hit 4-4 passes for 104 yards and a career-best two touchdowns.

Colorado State ended with 323 total yards. Brousseau hit 28 of 37 passes for 323 yards. Lanier had nine catches for 73 yards.

Air Force ended the season 4-8 overall and 3-5 in Mountain West play. Colorado State fell to 2-10 overall and 1-7 in the MW.
