Falcons Fall to #17 Santa Clara On Senior Day; Leggett Sets New Goals Record

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's water polo (17-14, 0-5 WCC) fell to #17 San Clara (9-11, 2-3 WCC), 18-16, in West Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Cadet Natatorium. Junior utility Tom Leggett reset the single season school scoring record in the game.
It was a tight game throughout, as the biggest lead in the game was two goals. Air Force had a late lead on a Leggett goal, going ahead 16-15 with 3:40 to play. Santa Clara out-scored the Falcons 3-1 the rest of the game to take the win away from Air Force.
Junior Jack Richards led the Falcons with a career-high eight goals scored.
Leggett followed with four goals and five points. His four goals gave him 144 on the season, setting a new school record, surpassing his own record of 143, set last season.
Junior Jonah Vander Veen returned from a lengthy layoff due to injury, to lead the Falcons with three assists. Senior Luca Smith notched 13 saves in goal.
Prior to the game, Air Force honored its senior class. The group of Jackson Carter, Colin Chase, Jake Dixon, Bruce Kim, Matthew Kwon and Smith comprise the class of 2025-26.
