Air Force Unable To Hold Off Wyoming In 69-62 Setback

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 69-62 contest at Wyoming (12-15, 5-11 MW) in Mountain West play Tuesday night at Arena Auditorium. Sophomore Wesley Celichowski scored 16 points to lead the Falcons.
It was another tough setback for the Falcons, who were unable to hold a double-digit halftime lead.
The Falcons played inspired basketball in the first half, leading wire-to-wire to take the 38-28 halftime lead. The Falcons held Wyoming to 35 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from three. Meanwhile, the Falcons shot 48 percent from the field and knocked down five three's.
The game turned at the half, as Wyoming made a commitment to scoring inside. The Cowboys scored 22 points in the paint in the second half, utllising a 17-10 rebounding advantage as well. The Falcons meanwhile, struggle to find its offense, shooting just 20 percent from three on 10 attempts.
Wyoming took its first lead of the game at 11:00 mark at 46-45. After the Falcons went back up one on a Celichowski bucket, Wyoming re-took the lead on a three by Matija Belic to make it 49-47 and would never trail the rest of the way.
The Cowboys would go up by seven, but the Falcons rallied to tie it up at 62-62 with 2:51 to play. Keying the rally was five straight points by Beau Becker, which included a three and a driving dunk to tie it up.
Wyoming then countered with a three by Obi Agbim at the 1:51 mark to lead for good. The Cowboys pulled away by making its last four free throws to close out the game. Agbim led Wyoming with 22 points. Cole Henry added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Celichowski was 7 of 11 from the field to lead the Falcons in scoring. Becker had his best scoring night, adding 10 points and hitting a pair of threes. Kyle Marshall added 10 points and seven rebounds. Luke Kearney scored eight points and Jeffrey Mills added seven.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Feb. 22, hosting Fresno State. The game tips at Clune Arena at 1 pm MT (***game time update from original 2 pm start***) and will be broadcast on ALT2 and streamed on the MWN.
