
Matthew Staton Earns MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Matthew Staton of Air Force has been named Mountain West Men's Tennis Freshman of Week for matches played during the week of Feb. 10-16, announced today by the conference office.
This is the first-career MW FOW honor for the Bristow, Va., native.
Staton went 2-0 in singles play for the Falcons in contests against FGCU and Navy. On Thursday against FGCU, Staton defeated CJ Smith in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Against Navy, Staton defeated Aniketh Ayinala in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. The win clinched the Navy match at 4-0 for the Falcons at College MatchDay at the USTA National Training Center.
It is the second-straight week that Air Force claimed the MW FOW honor as classmate Langdon Tingleaf earned the honor last week.
Air Force returns to action Friday, Feb. 21, hosting Jacksonville State.
